A teacher in Texas has caused a storm of outrage after his posts on social media seemingly encouraged Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to target his own students at Northside High School in Fort Worth.
The educator’s comments, made via his X (formerly Twitter) account, have prompted the Fort Worth Independent School District to launch an investigation.
Teacher’s Shocking Comments About His Students
The controversy began when the teacher, who goes by the handle @HookEm232, responded to an update from ICE about the number of arrests and detainers made against undocumented immigrants.
In his post, the teacher suggested that ICE agents visit Northside High School, claiming that many of his students couldn’t speak English and had to communicate with him through iPhone translators.
He even went as far as saying the Department of Education should “overhaul” Texas schools.
This led to even more unsettling posts.
In one response to a tweet about a teacher’s resistance to Trump’s anti-DEI orders, the teacher used derogatory language to describe his students, which only fueled the backlash.
Fort Worth District Responds Quickly
After the posts gained attention, the Fort Worth Independent School District responded swiftly, issuing a statement confirming they were aware of the social media posts and were launching a thorough investigation.
Roxanne Martinez, the district’s Board President, assured the community that appropriate actions would be taken.
The teacher was removed from campus during the investigation as per district protocol.
This incident comes amid growing tensions surrounding the Trump administration’s immigration policies, including ICE raids in “sensitive areas” like schools and hospitals.
While some activists have been warning communities about the threat of ICE raids, the teacher’s comments paint a starkly different picture, encouraging ICE to act within the school system.
Trump’s Policies and the Escalating Situation at the Border
This controversy is set against the backdrop of Trump’s hardline stance on immigration.
In his first week back in power, arrests and deportations surged, and over 2,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested so far.
The deployment of additional U.S. military personnel to the southern border, including 1,500 troops, is part of the administration’s plan to deter illegal immigration.
These forces will help with construction of barriers and assist with deportations.
In response, Trump’s administration has also warned state and local governments not to obstruct federal efforts, with the threat of criminal prosecution for those who shield illegal immigrants.
Deportations and Military Involvement
The situation intensified with the arrival of 1,500 active-duty troops at the southern border, joining the 2,500 troops already stationed there.
The additional personnel will assist with security and border infrastructure, and military aircraft will be used to transport detained migrants.
Despite some setbacks, including the Mexican government blocking deportations, the effort to deport migrants is gaining momentum.
Trump has made it clear that his administration will prioritize deporting illegal migrants with criminal records, further intensifying the debate over immigration policies in the U.S.
As this drama unfolds, many are questioning the teacher’s role in all of this and the impact his words will have on both his students and the community at large.
