Teko Modise Criticizes Kaizer Chiefs Players for Lack of Effort After Their 10th League Defeat Against Golden Arrows

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise has expressed frustration with the performance of Kaizer Chiefs players following another defeat in the league.

The Amakhosi team lost 2-1 to Golden Arrows this past weekend, marking their 10th league defeat of the season.

Modise believes the lack of effort from the players is a key reason the club has failed to make progress this season, despite the addition of 10 new players to the squad.

Modise Questions the Team’s Fighting Spirit

In an interview with SuperSport TV, Modise made it clear that he believes the problem lies with the players rather than the coaching staff.

“I have always said, it is the players,” Modise stated. He compared Kaizer Chiefs’ performance to that of a less fancied team, Magesi, which he feels shows greater determination to win.

“Look at the Magesi team, and you can see the players fighting to win.

But then you look at Kaizer Chiefs – when it is tough, where do you see the players fighting?” he asked.

Modise’s criticism also extended to the attitude of the players when things aren’t going well.

“No matter what the tactics are, if the tactics are not working on the day, do you have the right attitude to fight for results?” he said, pointing out that fighting spirit is what’s needed to turn things around.

Acknowledging the Coach’s Efforts, But Blaming the Players

While Modise acknowledged that Kaizer Chiefs have had a challenging season, he emphasized that the responsibility for the poor results falls on the players, not the coach.

Since Nasreddine Nabi took charge of the team, the Amakhosi have won only 12 of their 28 matches across all competitions.

Despite the disappointing numbers, Modise insists that it’s the players who need to step up.

Looking Ahead to the TS Galaxy Game

Kaizer Chiefs are set to face TS Galaxy this weekend in a crucial match for their league standing.

Currently, the team sits in eighth place on the log, and they will be hoping to improve their position.

Modise’s criticism highlights the importance of showing character on the field if they hope to turn things around.
