A stabbing on a bus in Melbourne has left a teenager with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred on Fitzsimons Lane in Templestowe on Thursday around 4:30 pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a confrontation on the bus.
According to Victoria Police, the stabbing happened during an alleged altercation between the victim, a 16-year-old, and another man.
The teenager was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
By Friday morning, he had been discharged from the hospital.
Police have confirmed that the alleged attacker remains on the loose and no charges have been laid.
In a statement, the police said that both individuals got off the bus and the offender ran away.
Police suspect that the two men may have known each other.
As officers continue to investigate the incident, roads in the area remained blocked off for almost four hours.
The police also took statements from the bus driver.
The reason behind the altercation and the identity of the alleged attacker remain unclear at this time.
The teenager’s condition following the attack is also unknown.
