What should have been just another summer day in central Poland has turned into a life-altering nightmare for a promising young footballer.

Seventeen-year-old Ksawery Jeżewski, a rising talent in Legia Warsaw’s U17 squad, is now in critical condition after a horrific car crash that also tragically claimed the life of his older sister.

Crash Near Plock Leaves Family in Grief

The accident happened near Goslice, a small town just outside Plock, when the vehicle Ksawery and his 18-year-old sister were traveling in suddenly veered off the road and slammed into a tree.

Emergency services—including firefighters, paramedics, and even an air ambulance—responded quickly, but sadly, nothing could be done to save the young woman.

She died at the scene despite desperate resuscitation efforts.

Football Community Offers Support

Legia Warsaw, Ksawery’s club, released an emotional statement shortly after the accident.

The club said Ksawery is currently in hospital in critical condition and extended heartfelt condolences to his family.

“The board, club staff, teammates, and coaches from the Academy extend their deepest condolences to Ksawery’s parents and share in their grief,” the statement read.

“We will provide all possible support to our player and his family. Ksawery, the entire club is with you.”

The Polish football community, including Legia’s youth academy and national team officials, have rallied around the young striker, offering both emotional and logistical support during this heartbreaking time.

Who Was Driving Remains Unclear

Authorities are still piecing together what happened in the moments before the crash.

Early police reports suggest that the car—a Toyota Yaris—was not speeding before it left the road, and no mechanical faults have been reported so far.

However, it’s still unclear who was behind the wheel when the crash occurred.

“The causes of the accident are unknown,” a police spokesperson told Polish media outlet Przegląd Sportowy.

“But according to initial findings, the vehicle was not moving at high speed.

We have not yet determined who was driving the car.”

A Promising Career on Pause

Ksawery Jeżewski had recently represented Poland’s U17 national team, featuring in a pair of friendlies against Albania.

Before joining Legia, he was part of the youth setup at Wisła Płock, where his talent and scoring ability quickly gained attention.

His footballing future, once filled with promise, now hangs in the balance as he battles for his life in a hospital bed.

But for now, the focus has shifted from goals and games to hope and healing.

A Whole Nation Watches and Waits

While Ksawery fights to recover, fans, teammates, and loved ones across Poland are sending messages of support, hoping he pulls through.

The tragic loss of his sister and the uncertainty around his own condition have cast a heavy shadow, but the strength of the community around him shows he’s not alone.
