What was meant to be a dream weekend for Taylor Swift fans quickly turned into a nightmare.
A fan-organized event celebrating the pop superstar, dubbed “Taylor Weekend,” promised music, themed parties, and a special appearance by an Eras Tour dancer—but it came crashing down before it even began.
Event Canceled Amid False Advertising Claims
The Orlando, Florida, event, scheduled for October 3-5, was abruptly canceled after Eras Tour dancer Kameron Saunders publicly denounced the weekend.
In an Instagram post, Saunders revealed he had never agreed to attend the event and was unaware his name was being used to sell tickets priced up to $300.
“I am so sorry to any of you who have paid money with such high hopes of my being in attendance, but that is not the case,” Saunders wrote.
He stressed that the claims of a luncheon, meet-and-greet, or performance by him were entirely false.
Fans Misled About Taylor Swift Appearances
The organizers had also reportedly promised a live video call or prerecorded content from Taylor Swift herself.
Saunders confirmed he had no connection to these promises, urging fans to always verify claims directly from official sources:
“As a rule of thumb, if you don’t see ME post something about me, assume it’s a scam of some kind,” he warned.
Organizers Express Shock and Apologize
The official Taylor Weekend website, which is password-protected, confirmed the cancellation in a statement:
“We were just as surprised by this news as all of you.
A deposit and contract are already in place, and we took steps to verify everything prior, believing it was secure.
We are now working quickly to trace where the funds were directed and determine the best path forward.”
They also apologized for any confusion or frustration caused, promising to resolve the situation responsibly.
Dispute Over Management Contracts
The organizers claimed they had a contract with Saunders’ “old management team” and were blindsided by his refusal to attend.
Saunders clarified that he has only ever had one management team, further highlighting the confusion surrounding the event.
Fans React in Outrage
Social media erupted as fans expressed disbelief and frustration over the canceled event.
Many drew comparisons to the infamous Fyre Festival:
-
“Omg? It’s like Fyre Fest but Taylor themed,” one fan wrote.
-
“Omg our very own Fyre Festival (Swifties version),” another added.
-
“No way??? An entirely different level of evil,” declared a third.
Clarifying the Event Was Fan-Organized
Event organizer GenZTrendy had previously emphasized in a February Facebook post that Taylor Weekend was a fan-driven initiative with no official ties to Taylor Swift or her management:
“All rights to intellectual property are reserved to their respective owners.
This is an independent fan celebration, dedicated to appreciating Taylor’s music and creating unforgettable fan experiences.”
A Cautionary Tale for Fans
Ultimately, the canceled event serves as a stark reminder for fans to verify details and promises before committing money.
While the idea of a Taylor-themed weekend may have been exciting, this incident highlights the risks of fan-organized events that claim celebrity involvement.
