It’s not unusual for exes to have their differences, especially when there’s history of heartbreak involved. But recently, actress Tamzin Outhwaite seemed to extend a quiet olive branch to her former husband, actor Tom Ellis.
The gesture caught attention because of the couple’s rocky past — yet it hinted at a softer chapter in their story.
Tamzin’s Heartfelt Gesture
Tamzin, 54, who rose to fame on EastEnders, surprised many by resharing a post from Tom’s Instagram.
The photo showed the Lucifer star proudly standing with his children at the red-carpet premiere of his new Netflix film, The Thursday Murder Club, in London’s Leicester Square.
Adding her own caption, Tamzin wrote: “My heart is bursting” with the hashtag #suchaproudmama.
A Family Spread Across Two Worlds
Tom, now 46, has built a career in the U.S. and is raising children on both sides of the Atlantic.
He shares two daughters with Tamzin, has another daughter from a previous relationship, and welcomed a baby girl via surrogate last year with his wife, screenwriter Meagan Oppenheimer.
At the premiere, Tom wrote about how proud he was to have his kids by his side, thanking Netflix for making it a special night.
A Difficult Past
The show of support from Tamzin is striking given the pair’s history.
The couple divorced in 2014 after nine years of marriage, following Tom’s admitted affair with Australian actress Emilie de Ravin while filming Once Upon a Time.
Tamzin has openly spoken about how painful that time was, raising their children mostly on her own while Tom pursued his career abroad.
Ten Years of Healing
Last year, Tamzin marked the decade since her marriage ended by writing an emotional post reflecting on the betrayal she endured.
In it, she acknowledged hearing new stories of Tom’s alleged infidelities during their marriage, but said she felt “triumph and pride” for moving forward with a clear heart.
Though she later deleted the post, she explained that she wanted to acknowledge her journey and remind others that self-love is the most important relationship of all.
Coping as a Single Parent
In previous interviews, Tamzin admitted the challenges of raising children alone while balancing her acting career.
She described childcare as her “biggest extravagance” but said she was fortunate to have the support of family and friends.
Despite her pain, she has remained careful about what she shares with her daughters, stressing that they deserve to hear the truth from her when the time is right.
From Heartache to New Beginnings
Tamzin first met Tom back in 2005 through actor James McAvoy, a mutual friend.
Their marriage ended almost a decade later, leaving Tamzin devastated.
Still, she has rebuilt her life since, finding strength in her career, her children, and her ability to move forward.
Tom, meanwhile, has found global fame through Lucifer and continues his career in Hollywood.
A Public Show of Support
By resharing Tom’s premiere photo, Tamzin may not have erased the past, but she certainly showed that co-parenting and mutual respect can find space even after heartbreak.
For their daughters, it was a public reminder that while the road has been rocky, their parents still share pride in them and in their family.
