Woman Found Brutally Murdered While Facing Financial Troubles
Erin Gilbert, a 42-year-old woman, was found dead in her apartment on Easter Sunday.
Court documents reveal that Ms. Gilbert was thousands of dollars in debt and facing eviction from her home in western Sydney.
The documents also show that she had two ongoing legal battles with her landlords over unpaid rent.

Financial Troubles
Ms. Gilbert’s financial difficulties were laid bare in court documents that detailed her ongoing legal battles with two landlords.
She and her husband Nicholas Gilbert were fighting to pay overdue rent, with two court orders from the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal directing them to pay more than a total of $8850.
In October, the couple was evicted from their home on Victoria Rd in Parramatta after failing to pay more than $7780 in rent.
Only a few months later, the Gilberts were ordered to pay the outstanding rent of more than $1060 on their current home in Merrylands.
Gruesome Discovery
On Easter Sunday, Ms. Gilbert was found dead in her apartment.
Her husband Nicholas Gilbert discovered her body on the bed, amid a gruesome and bloody scene.
He tried to resuscitate her but she was already dead.
Police confirmed that the couple had only moved to the area seven months prior but had already become embroiled in legal battles over housing.
Investigation
Specialist forensic police examined the crime scene and took swabs of the metal balcony railing and the inside of the unit’s doorway.
Bedsheets, a doona, and a sock were found stained with blood, and several items from the home were sealed into brown evidence bags.
Police have launched a major manhunt to find Ms. Gilbert’s killers.
