After the two men leaped over the “Jaws” bridge on Martha’s Vineyard, one of them was discovered dead, while the other is still missing.

The two swimmers had difficulties at the location in Edgartown, Massachusetts, where the tragedy occurred on the bridge made famous by the summer blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg in 1975.

Police said that two individuals in their early 20s fled after jumping into the water from the bridge between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs.

The corpse of one of the victims was found by search teams about 9.30am.

The search for the second casualty is still going on, and the Marine Unit and Dive Teams have now relocated their search area to the ocean side of the bridge.

Late on Monday afternoon, authorities announced that the hunt for the second guy had been put on hold until tomorrow, when State Police and Environmental Police will resume their side scan sonar search.

Local accounts suggest that on the night of the tragedy, up to nine persons may have jumped from the bridge.

However, according to all sources, only two men vanished, and one of them was later discovered dead.

Local officials have not disclosed the identities of the two males since the Massachusetts State Police has subsequently taken over the investigation.

The American Legion Memorial Bridge, often known as the “Jaws Bridge,” received its moniker from its appearance in the Martha’s Vineyard-shot movie “Jaws.”

The Beach Rd bridge, which connects Edgartown and Oak Bluffs, is where a lot of kids and adults jump throughout the summer.

When the shark swims from Cow Bay into Sengekontacket in the movie’s climax sequence, attacks a victim, and then swims back out to sea, the bridge is seen.
