Michael Obafemi set to join Burnley permanently after loan spell
Michael Obafemi is set to make a permanent switch to Burnley from Swansea City this summer.
The Republic of Ireland international joined Burnley from Swansea on a loan deal in January, with the expectation that he would make the move permanent at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Following Burnley’s promotion back into the Premier League, Obafemi is now guaranteed to become a permanent player at Turf Moor, officially ending his Swansea career.

Burnley’s Promotion and Obafemi’s Performance
Vincent Kompany’s Burnley secured their promotion back to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough, guaranteeing a top-two finish in the Championship.
Former Swansea player Connor Roberts, who made four loan appearances for Boro during the 2017/18 campaign, netted the winner for Burnley at the Riverside Stadium.
Obafemi joined Burnley in January and has scored twice in 10 appearances.
The End of Obafemi’s Swansea Career
The terms of the deal that brought Obafemi to Burnley from Swansea City during the January transfer window always included the possibility of a permanent transfer in the summer, after the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.
Obafemi’s loan spell with the Clarets has been successful, and now that Burnley has earned a place back in the Premier League, he will officially join the club on a permanent basis, ending his time with Swansea City.
