Supersport United’s head coach, Gavin Hunt, recently shared some encouraging news regarding the fitness of two vital players: Bradley Grobler and Grant Margeman.
These players have been instrumental in the team’s performance, consistently delivering standout displays whenever they step onto the field.
Season Performance Recap
Looking back at the previous season, Margeman was a key contributor, featuring in 37 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal and assisting four times.
Grobler, on the other hand, made a significant impact with 12 goals and one assist in 33 appearances.
Their contributions have been crucial to the team’s success.
Injury Challenges This Season
However, the 2024/25 campaign has not been kind to either player.
Grobler has only played once this season due to a knee injury he suffered during the MTN8 quarter-finals against Orlando Pirates.
Meanwhile, Margeman is grappling with a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) sustained early in the season, also limiting him to just one appearance in the MTN8.
Recovery Progress
Despite these setbacks, Hunt is optimistic about their recovery.
He expressed his satisfaction with the progress both players are making and is hopeful they will return to the pitch soon, especially given the team’s rocky start to the new season.
During a training session at Megawatt Park in Woodmead, both players were present.
Grobler participated fully in practice, while Margeman observed from the sidelines.
Hunt noted the significance of their presence: “It’s the first time they trained with us; it’s a plus for us. Hopefully, we can start including them by being on the bench.”
Looking Ahead
Hunt highlighted the team’s struggles, especially their lack of a right-sided player throughout pre-season and the current season.
This gap has forced him to make tactical adjustments that have impacted the squad’s performance.
He remains optimistic that Grobler and Margeman will soon rejoin the team, bringing their skills back into play and enhancing their game strategy.
