What was supposed to be a typical afternoon of errands turned into a nightmare for several people inside a Family Dollar store in Kansas City, Missouri.
The unthinkable happened just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, when part of the store’s roof suddenly collapsed — leaving one person dead and several others injured.
Roof Collapses at Busy Family Dollar Store
According to the Kansas City Fire Department, emergency crews rushed to the Family Dollar at 3726 Broadway Boulevard around 2:45 p.m. after getting reports that part of the building had come crashing down.
When they arrived, firefighters discovered that the store’s front section had partially given way.
Shoppers and employees were inside at the time, completely caught off guard as chunks of the building began falling.
One Dead, Three Others Hurt in the Incident
Fire officials confirmed to local news outlet Fox4 that one person sadly lost their life due to the collapse.
