In a recent interview, Steve Bannon once again made headlines with his criticisms of Elon Musk.
The 71-year-old former White House strategist for President Donald Trump aired his grievances about the billionaire tech mogul, especially focusing on Musk’s influence in the current political landscape.
Bannon, who’s been vocal about his vision for America, gave a candid interview to the British outlet UnHerd, where he sharply criticized Musk’s involvement with the Trump administration and his approach to government efficiency.
Bannon Calls Musk a “Parasitic Illegal Immigrant”
During the interview, Bannon didn’t hold back when talking about Musk.
He described Musk as a “parasitic illegal immigrant,” claiming that Musk’s ambitions were undermining American values.
“He wants to impose his freak experiments and play-act as God without any respect for the country’s history, values, or traditions,” Bannon stated, expressing frustration with Musk’s actions in the political sphere.
Despite these strong words, Bannon did acknowledge that he didn’t oppose all of Musk’s work, including his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), though he remained critical of it.
Bannon Questions Musk’s Approach to Government Efficiency
Bannon raised concerns over the work that Musk’s team has done so far, calling it “performative” rather than substantive.
He expressed disappointment that DOGE had yet to make significant cuts to the Pentagon’s budget, which he believes should be reduced by at least $100 billion.
“I would like to see $100 billion taken off the $900 billion budget right now,” Bannon said, adding that the total figure for military spending is almost a trillion dollars.
He also criticized the fact that DOGE’s findings weren’t being shared with Congress to help trim the federal budget for the upcoming year.
Bannon Warns Against Hasty Government Cuts
While Bannon advocates for reducing government spending, he warned against cutting programs like Medicaid that many working-class Americans rely on.
“There are a lot of MAGAs on Medicaid,” Bannon pointed out, stressing that these individuals could suffer if hasty cuts were made.
“Just can’t take a meat axe to it, although I would love to,” he added, acknowledging the difficulty of balancing fiscal conservatism with the needs of everyday people.
Bannon’s Shift in Stance on Musk’s Role
Bannon, who had once vowed to see Musk removed from Trump’s inner circle, has softened his stance.
Now, he’s more accepting of Musk’s role in Trump’s broader strategy.
Bannon explained that while they may have their differences, “the enemy of the enemy is my friend.”
He sees Musk as an ally in the fight against the so-called “administrative state,” which he believes is undermining America.
“Elon is helping expose this,” Bannon said, acknowledging Musk’s role in challenging the deep-rooted establishment.
Bannon Trusts Trump’s Judgment on Musk
Bannon also shared his belief that President Trump is fully aware of how Musk is being used strategically.
He believes Trump is using Musk as a “piercing shell” to attack the administrative state.
“It’s pretty evident the president’s using him as an armous-piercing shell that’s delivering blunt force trauma against the administrative state,” Bannon observed, expressing confidence that Trump is in control of the situation.
Bannon also pointed out that Trump himself has stated Musk doesn’t do anything without his approval, something Bannon trusts.
Bannon Pushes for Trump’s Third Term
Bannon’s loyalty to Trump is unwavering, even as the president continues to collaborate with Musk.
One of Bannon’s more controversial statements in the interview was his push for Trump to serve a third term.
He believes that the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms, could be interpreted in a way that allows Trump to run again.
“I’m working on making sure they have a correct interpretation of the Constitution,” Bannon said, outlining his efforts to amend the law. While he admitted that there isn’t much legal support for his position, Bannon remained determined, recalling the numerous battles he’s fought in the past.
Legal Hurdles in Bannon’s Push for Trump’s Third Term
Bannon acknowledged that the idea of a third term for Trump is highly controversial and faces significant legal hurdles.
The 22nd Amendment clearly states that no person can be elected to the presidency more than twice.
However, Bannon remains convinced that a reinterpretation of the amendment could make it possible for Trump to serve again.
He admitted that his legal argument doesn’t have widespread support at the moment but remains confident, citing his history of pushing against the odds.
Trump’s Relationship with Musk Under Scrutiny
As Bannon continues to speak out against Musk, the relationship between Trump and Musk remains a point of contention.
Bannon’s criticisms highlight the tension between Trump’s need for powerful allies and the potential risks of relying on a figure like Musk.
Whether or not Musk’s influence continues to grow in the Trump camp is uncertain, but Bannon’s outspoken remarks signal that this political drama is far from over.
Bannon’s Future in Trump’s Circle Remains Unclear
With Bannon’s strong opinions on Musk, the future of his influence in Trump’s circle remains uncertain.
While Bannon is working on advocating for Trump’s third term, the president’s relationship with Musk could play a role in how things unfold.
Bannon, always outspoken and unafraid to voice his concerns, continues to push for his version of the future—one where Trump holds power and challenges the current political structure, including Musk’s role.
