There’s turning 30… and then there’s Ox Nche turning 30 — with a massive cake, big smiles, and a room full of loved ones.
The Springbok prop didn’t just mark a milestone birthday; he turned it into a celebration that was all heart and home, right in the city where it all began.
Birthday Bash Back Home in Bloemfontein
Ox Nche, known just as much for his scrummaging power as his sweet tooth, headed back to his roots to celebrate the big 3-0.
The party, hosted in Bloemfontein, had a black-and-white theme and was filled with the warmth of family and close friends.
And yes, the cake was everything you’d expect from a man famous for his dessert-loving personality.
On social media, Ox shared snippets of the day and thanked those who made it special.
“The 3rd floor…Thank God for the wonderful life,” he wrote. “Thank you for all the birthday wishes.
Thank you to all the friends and family in my life. I love you guys.”
Milestone Moments on and off the Field
While his birthday might’ve been the focus over the weekend, it’s worth remembering that Ox Nche’s rugby career has hit some impressive numbers too.
With 40 test caps under his belt for the Springboks, he’s far from just the new kid on the block.
Even with all that experience, he hasn’t let his feet leave the ground.
In fact, he’s made it a point to mentor the younger players in the national squad, bringing his trademark calm and kindness to the next generation.
Mentoring the Next Wave of Springboks
Speaking about his role in guiding the newer players, Ox shared that mentoring others actually pushes him to grow too.
“It makes you want to better yourself. You know the standards that have been set.
It just makes you want to take them and try to elevate them to the next level,” he explained.
He also spoke about how sharing advice in the team isn’t just one-way.
“When we give each other advice, we’re actually pulling each other up,” he added. “We don’t doubt the information we’re giving each other.”
A Fan Favourite On and Off the Pitch
Whether he’s lifting teammates in scrums or spirits at parties, Ox Nche has clearly carved out a space as one of rugby’s most beloved figures — and it’s not just because of the cake.
