South African Load’s shedding: How to check schedules for CPT, PTA, JHB DBN

South Africans are now bracing for five days of load shedding as Eskom will likely only suspend the rolling blackouts on Monday, 7 February 2022 at 05:00. This means it’s time to check your local load shedding schedule.
The embattled power utility implemented a bout of load shedding on Wednesday, 2 February, the first for the year and attributing the move to a shortage of generation capacity following breakdowns of two more generating units during the night.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULE

While there’s not much we can do about the load shedding, the best way to make it as less inconvenient as possible is to at least know when you can expect it to hit your area.
LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULE: JOHANNESBURG
Do you live in Joburg and aren’t sure about which block represents your area? You can find out here on City Power’s webpage for your load-shedding schedule.
TSHWANE/PRETORIA
Similarly, Tshwane’s load-shedding roster divides areas into groupings. If you’re in the capital, you can consult this list. It’s an easy way to prepare for the power cuts. Already know your numbered group? Check out the City of Tshwane’s Twitter page.
CAPE TOWN
Capetonians should use this map to be in the know about when to expect load shedding this weekend. Once you have identified which block you’re in, you consult the table which features on the second page. You then find the correct date and identify which time period your block appears in. Please note: On some occasions, the City of Cape Town has a slightly altered load shedding schedule.
DURBAN
You just need to find your block list here, then double check the city’s official schedule and Bob’s your uncle! You can also follow the eThekwini Municipality’s Twitter account for live updates.
