Son recently shared that seeing his close friend and former teammate Harry Kane lift the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich gave him both joy and renewed motivation.
“I was so happy for him—like family-level happy,” Son said, beaming.
“He sent me a video call after I congratulated him, and just seeing him smile like that…
it gave me a boost.
I’m hoping that kind of energy rubs off on us too.”
A Decade in the Making, But Still One Piece Missing
It’s been nearly ten years since the South Korean forward signed with Tottenham.
Over that time, he’s come painfully close to silverware—finishing runner-up in the Premier League, Champions League, and League Cup.
But that elusive winner’s medal? Still out of reach.
“We’ve been having this conversation for years,” Son admitted.
“The real reason I’ve stayed this long is because I want to achieve something big with Spurs.
I’ve got all the puzzle pieces—except for that last one, the most important one.”
He continued, “This time, it just feels different.
I want it badly, more than anyone.
I can feel how much the fans want it too, and if we prepare the right way, I truly believe we can do it.”
Building Back From Injury Just in Time
After a month on the sidelines, Son made his return in Sunday’s 2–0 loss to Crystal Palace.
While his performance showed he’s still working his way back to full fitness, he’s hoping for more minutes in their upcoming clash against Aston Villa.
