Sol Phenduka breaks silence on suspension from Kaya FM following court case with Minnie Dlamini in Johannesburg

Radio and podcast star Sol Phenduka has finally addressed the shock suspension from Johannesburg’s Kaya FM.

The popular broadcaster, who co-hosts the station’s breakfast show Siz the World alongside Sizwe Dhlomo, sportscaster Mpho Maboi, and newsreader Mfundo Mabalane, opened up during an episode of Podcast and Chill on Thursday, 21 August.

Immediate Suspension Shocks Fans

Earlier this week, Kaya FM announced that Sol Phenduka had been suspended with immediate effect.

“Kaya 959 confirms that presenter Sol Phenduka has been placed on suspension with immediate effect.

This step has been taken pending the outcome of an internal process currently underway,” the station said in a statement.

Phenduka expressed surprise over the announcement, revealing that he had been asked to keep the suspension confidential until further notice.

Court Case With Minnie Dlamini at the Center

During the podcast, Phenduka suggested that his suspension is linked to the ongoing legal case with media personality Minnie Dlamini.

“You know what it’s about; it’s about the court case with Minnie,” he said, hinting that the dispute may have influenced Kaya FM’s decision.

Dlamini reportedly sued Phenduka and his podcast co-host, MacGyver ‘MacG’ Mukwevho, for R2.5 million in damages.

The allegations include hate speech, unfair discrimination, and harassment based on sex or gender.

Dlamini claimed that she experienced deep emotional pain after the pair made what she described as “derogatory” comments following her split from celebrity doctor Brian Monaisa.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Discussions

Phenduka’s suspension has sparked a conversation among listeners and followers of the radio station.

Many are debating whether the suspension was justified or if it was unfairly influenced by the ongoing court case.

Fans have been encouraged to share their opinions through comments or via WhatsApp, showing how closely the audience follows the personal and professional lives of media personalities.
