World Snooker Championship fan reacts hilariously to protester at the Crucible
On Monday, the World Snooker Championship was disrupted by Just Stop Oil protesters who jumped onto the table and threw powder over the playing surface, leaving the crowd perplexed.
One snooker fan’s reaction was picked up on the microphones around the table, as he scoffed “Oh, you p****”.
Viewers at home were left in stitches after the fan’s reaction was picked up during the television coverage of the event.
Stewards were quick to intervene as the protesters stormed the tables at the Crucible, and spectators could be heard shouting “get him off” as one of the activists threw powder over themselves and the table before sitting down and displaying a message on their shirt.
The shocking incident took place during the opening round match between England’s Robert Milkins and Joe Perry and a clash involving Mark Allen and Fan Zhengyi.
Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry was also present and reacted, saying: “I have never seen that before at a snooker event.
It’s a first. It is scary. Wow! You just hope the cloth can be recovered from that.
It caught us all by surprise and then this happens.
For me, straightaway as a snooker player I am thinking: ‘Is the table recoverable?’ We don’t know what that is on the table.”
The protesters’ actions were not received well by snooker fans, who were left fuming by their behaviour.
On social media, many reacted with hilarity to the snooker fan’s response to the incident. One Twitter user wrote, “The bloke in the crowd who’s first on the scene shouting ‘oh you p****’ is a moment to savour.”
While another added, “The fact someone shouts ‘you p****’ and everyone boos yet everyone stays sat down has sent me.
Is this wrestling?” Another user simply commented, “Creasing at the bloke who just shouts ‘you p****’.”
Despite the incident, the World Snooker Championship continues, with many eagerly anticipating who will take the title.
