Skydiver Admits to Manslaughter After Strangling Girlfriend
Ashley Kemp, a skydiver, admitted to the manslaughter of his girlfriend, Clair Armstrong, but denied murdering her.
The incident occurred after she confronted him about allegedly raping a teenager.
Kemp confessed to police that he had killed Clair, and she was found dead in bed at her home in Messingham, Lincolnshire.
The couple had been together for two years, after meeting at a skydiving center where they both worked as instructors.

Allegations of a Sexual Nature Against Kemp
Jurors at Grimsby Crown Court heard that before the November killing, a teenage girl made allegations of a sexual nature against Kemp.
Although he was arrested over the allegations, it has not yet been decided whether to charge him for the alleged attempted rape.
Clair told her friends that her relationship with Kemp was struggling because of the allegations and that she was considering breaking up with him.

Kemp’s Account of the Incident
Kemp told the court that Clair was hysterical when she confronted him about the alleged sex attack.
He added that Clair had asked him to leave and grabbed him before he squeezed her throat for what seemed like eternity until she stopped breathing.
Kemp said that he snapped and that a red mist came over him, leading him to hold on too long.
He claimed that he did not realize it was going to be Clair’s end.

Prosecution’s Case Against Kemp
Richard Thyne KC, the prosecutor, said that Kemp killed Clair in a fit of rage.
He added that the brute killed her because if he couldn’t have her, no one could.
Statement from Clair’s Family
In a statement, Clair’s family thanked the police for their incredible support and guidance during the darkest time of their lives.
They said that the day they lost Clair was the day their lives changed forever and that they never imagined being in this position.
The family appreciated the support of the people around them in securing justice for Clair.
Kemp’s sentencing is scheduled for May 3.
