Luke Littler may have taken the darts world by storm, but that hasn’t stopped the teenage phenom from weighing in on another sport close to his heart—football.

As a devoted Manchester United supporter, the 18-year-old has some strong opinions on how his club should shape up under manager Ruben Amorim.

A Year of Glory in Darts

The start of 2025 has already been monumental for Littler.

He kicked off the year with a stunning victory at the World Darts Championship held at the iconic Alexandra Palace.

If that wasn’t enough, he followed it up earlier this month by winning the World Matchplay title.

That win secured him the status of the youngest-ever Triple Crown winner—a feat that solidified his name in darts history.

United’s Struggles Don’t Match Littler’s Winning Streak

While Littler has been thriving in his career, the same can’t be said for his favorite football team.

Manchester United, under new manager Ruben Amorim, had a season to forget.

The Red Devils endured their worst-ever Premier League finish and suffered a painful defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

Transfer Window Brings Fresh Hope

With a new season just around the corner, Manchester United has wasted no time making moves in the transfer market.

The club has already brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford—two players many fans, including Littler, were hoping to see at Old Trafford.

“I think the main two players we’ve got—Mbeumo and Cunha—we wanted them, and we’ve got them,” Littler shared in an interview with Sky Sports.

Littler Wants a Juventus Star at United

But Littler wasn’t done offering advice.

He pointed out one more player he believes could be a game-changer for United: Douglas Luiz, the Brazilian midfielder currently at Juventus.

“For me, Douglas Luiz would be a no-brainer,” Littler said.

“He’s versatile—whether you need someone to hold the midfield or push forward, he’s got it covered.”

Eyeing More Talent from Villa

Littler even suggested United should consider raiding Luiz’s former club, Aston Villa, for more talent.

He speculated about Alejandro Garnacho possibly moving to Villa and cheekily added, “So why not take Ollie Watkins off them too?”

He didn’t stop there.

“Also, Emiliano Martinez is out of contract—it would be a no-brainer,” Littler added, referring to Villa’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper.

Fans Don’t Take Kindly to Littler’s Football Picks

Not everyone welcomed Littler’s football scouting suggestions.

Some football fans on social media were quick to throw shade at the darts star’s transfer opinions.

One user wrote bluntly, “Stick to darts would be my advice.”

Another echoed, “Stick to darts, Littler lad.”

A third chimed in, “Good job he’s a darts player,” and yet another said, “Dude’s never watched Luiz.”

Douglas Luiz: A Career of Ups and Downs

For context, Douglas Luiz began his English football journey with Manchester City back in 2017.

Due to work permit issues, he didn’t get many chances and was loaned out to Girona for two seasons.

Eventually, he made a name for himself at Aston Villa, racking up over 200 appearances and scoring 22 goals.

Luiz made a move to Juventus last summer, but injuries hampered his first season in Serie A.

He only managed to start three games for the Italian side.

What’s Next for Littler and United?

As Luke Littler continues to dominate in darts, it’s clear he’ll keep rooting passionately for Manchester United.

Whether the club follows any of his advice remains to be seen.

But one thing is certain—Littler’s passion for both darts and football isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
