Siya Kolisi makes triumphant return as Sharks secure crucial URC victory over Lions in Durban

After weeks on the sidelines, Siya Kolisi is finally back in the thick of things! The Springbok captain made his much-anticipated return to the United Rugby Championship (URC) on March 8, helping the Sharks secure a hard-fought 25-22 victory over the Lions.

That crucial win keeps their top-four hopes alive, and now, they’re shifting focus to their next challenge—an exciting clash against Italian side Zebre.

Sharks Looking to Keep the Momentum Going

John Plumtree’s men have been in solid form, winning three of their last four matches.

They currently sit in fourth place on the log, holding a six-point advantage over Munster.

However, with Munster taking on defending champions Glasgow Warriors later today, the Sharks know they need to keep collecting points to maintain their position.

Kolisi to Lead the Springboks Once Again

In some exciting news for South African rugby fans, Rassie Erasmus has confirmed that Kolisi will continue as Springbok captain for the foreseeable future.

Speaking on the matter, Erasmus stated, “If a player is 34, 35, 36 and remains injury-free, in top shape, and still the best in his position, there’s no reason to make a change.”

He also acknowledged that there are other leadership options, mentioning Eben Etzebeth, Bongi Mbonambi, and Pieter-Steph du Toit as capable captains.

However, as long as Kolisi is fit, healthy, and performing well, the armband remains his.
