Sixth missing body found in the aftermath of Tshwane floods

On Thursday afternoon, the body of a sixth missing individual was recovered in the aftermath of the floodwaters.
The guy believed to be the e-hailing vehicle driver was discovered by SAPS search teams, who had been looking for the car’s missing occupants for days.
Charles Mabaso, a spokeswoman for Tshwane Emergency Services, said that he was told of the recovery around lunchtime on Thursday.

“The SAPS have located and are busy recovering the body of a male believed to be the driver of the e-hailing vehicle,” said Mabaso.

He said the discovery was made on the Olifantsfointein Road near the train bridge in Botha Avenue.
A fifth missing person, a female was located and recovered yesterday morning at the Olifantspruit near Irene.
The woman was believed to be one of the two passengers aboard an e-hailing vehicle that was reportedly washed away on Saturday morning.
At this stage, the number of fatalities recorded stood at six following heavy rainfall in the province at the weekend.
Mabaso said the search saw the recovery of a man on Monday afternoon from a bakkie that was washed away in Centurion.
He also confirmed reports that the body of a man, who allegedly drowned in his shack at Soul City informal settlement in Mamelodi, was recovered by the SAPS and Pathology Services.

“The SAPS dive team at around midday on Monday also discovered and recovered the body of a man from his Audi SUV that was washed away and stuck near the Centurion Lake Hotel,” said Mabaso.

Mabaso said the search for a man who was in his boat with a friend that was washed over the dam wall in the Roodeplaat dam was resumed yesterday after being called off on Sunday afternoon.
“Search teams discovered the body on Monday afternoon, downstream from the Roodeplaat Dam, near the SAPS K9 Unit and Moloto road,” said Mabaso.
