Shootout occurs after a robbery at MaMkhize’s La Lucia estate

Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, president of the Royal AM Football Club and a multimillionaire, was the target of an attempted robbery at her home in La Lucia, Durban, on Saturday, 7 January, according to TimesLIVE.

During a gunfight between the crooks and security personnel, one person was reportedly injured and two others escaped.

Saturday at approximately 14:00, according to a screenshot of a conversation in the local security group, as reported by the website.

“Did anyone hear multiple gunshots just now?” a homeowner inquired, to which another responded, “Yes, I heard them approximately ten minutes ago.” I’m in Zietsman Close. Was uncertain whether that was gunfire or not. There were quite a few explosions.”

According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda who talked to TimesLIVE, one of the three thieves engaged in the incident was wounded on the leg. The two remaining men escaped.

“There are supposed to be three robbers. One was wounded in the leg by security personnel, while the others escaped empty-handed.”

Netshiunda stated that MaMkhize’s residence is separated into northern and southern sections.

“There are northern and southern portions. Due to their divorce, the woman resides in the northern region and the male in the southern region. The attempted robbery occurred in the southern region where the man resides.

It is still difficult to predict whether the burglars had a specific target in mind, he continued.

“The investigation will continue and we will talk to the apprehended suspect once he is up to it.”
