Just when it seemed the courtroom drama surrounding Senzo Meyiwa’s death couldn’t get any more intense, former advocate Malesela Teffo has stepped forward with explosive claims that could shake the case to its core.

And he did it publicly—on none other than Podcast and Chill.

Teffo Tells All on Podcast and Chill

On the latest episode aired Thursday, 17 July 2025, Malesela Teffo dropped bombshells during his conversation with the Podcast and Chill team.

The former advocate didn’t hold back, going as far as to claim that the current trial is all wrong—and that the real story behind Meyiwa’s death has yet to be told.

According to Teffo, the five men currently facing charges for Meyiwa’s 2014 murder are innocent.

He insists that he has solid evidence and firsthand witness accounts that completely change the narrative.

What Really Happened That Night in Vosloorus?

Senzo Meyiwa was killed on 26 October 2014 at the Vosloorus home of his then-partner, Kelly Khumalo.

At the time, it was reported as a robbery gone wrong. But Teffo now says that’s not the case at all.

He claims the chaos began when Longwe Twala—ex-boyfriend to Kelly’s sister, Zandi Khumalo—arrived at the house armed and angry.

Teffo alleges Longwe brought a gun after suspecting Zandi was seeing someone else and flew into a rage when he found other men, including Meyiwa, in the house.

A Tussle, a Gun, and a Tragic Accident

Teffo laid out a dramatic version of what happened next.

He said Longwe’s outburst led to a scuffle, and that Meyiwa managed to get the gun away from him.

Meyiwa then handed it to Kelly for safekeeping.

According to Teffo, what followed was a devastating accident.

As Meyiwa returned to the house after briefly stepping outside with Longwe, he allegedly asked Kelly to pass him the firearm again.

Teffo claims Kelly, while being “playful,” accidentally pulled the trigger as she handed it over.

The bullet, Teffo says, struck Meyiwa in the chest and pierced his lung—ending his life instantly.

‘She Was Joking Around When It Happened’

Teffo described the moment in chilling detail.

“He said, ‘Kelly, letha isibhamu’—bring the gun,” Teffo recalled.

“She was going to give it to him, but she was playful. When Senzo was about to take it, that’s when the bullet came out.”

He believes the shooting was unintentional, but fatal nonetheless—and a far cry from the robbery narrative told nearly a decade ago.

Teffo Insists the Accused Are Innocent

The former advocate didn’t stop there.

He doubled down on his belief that the five men on trial have no connection to the crime.

Teffo even claimed that two of the accused were in KwaZulu-Natal at the time of the murder.

“I’m talking about alibis that check out,” he said.

“Those guys are innocent—accused one and two weren’t even in Gauteng.”

He added that his version of events is backed up by both eyewitnesses and direct conversations, including one with Longwe Twala himself, allegedly conducted while Twala was in prison.

Fear for His Life, But Not Backing Down

Teffo’s comments didn’t end with just case details—he also made a dramatic statement about the danger he believes he’s in for speaking out.

“I won’t die,” he declared. “If they want me dead, they must ask God first.”

He further claimed that at least eleven lives have been lost in connection to this case, though he didn’t provide specifics.

What Happens Now?

These fresh claims are bound to raise even more questions in an already tangled and emotional case.

While Teffo no longer holds official legal standing, his words are already making waves online and in the courtroom of public opinion.

What’s certain is that the story of Senzo Meyiwa’s death is far from settled—and the nation will be watching closely to see where this shocking new version of events leads.
