Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian singer, and his associates have been granted bail after being charged with fake news publication following a fabricated allegation that the singer had been shot.
After reportedly faking a gunshot attack, the musician and his three friends brought themselves in on October 19, 2021.
The Shatta Movement’s leader was accused with spreading false information and inciting panic. After appearing before an Accra Circuit Court today, Shatta Wale and his companions, who had been held at Ankaful Prison for seven days, were granted release.
The singer was granted GH100,000 bail on self recognition. His 3 accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator, were also granted bail on grounds that they had been counseled, are not flight risk, and will not escape.
The case has been adjourned and the accused will re-appear in court on 9th November.
