Sharjah’s Emergency and Crises team implements ‘Readiness 5’ exercise virtually

SHARJAH, 10th August, 2021 (WAM) — The Local Emergency, Disaster and Crisis Management Team for the Emirate of Sharjah held the “Readiness 5” exercise for the year 2021 virtually, in cooperation with all the strategic partners in the Emirate and under the patronage of Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Head of the Local Emergency, Disaster and Crisis Management Team of the Emirate of Sharjah.
The team stressed the importance of integrating efforts between various government institutions and the private sector, and the need to work as a team with strategic partners to face various challenges, as success lies in organised joint work and dealing with crises with precision and professionalism.
The “Readiness 5” for 2021 attempted to consolidate the efforts of the local team and security teams to enhance response to crises and disasters, in cooperation with their strategic partners, to measure the level of readiness of the medical evacuation plan in hospitals, particularly the specialist hospitals, and to develop an integrated mechanism to coordinate between various parties in optimising risk management, to preserve people’s lives and property.
The scenario of the “Readiness 5” included several simulations of potential risks that may occur during hospital evacuations, implemented through a series of measures adopted within the plans to deal with crises and disasters.
