Sharjah Ports and Border Points Committee, Border Guard Group Command discuss boosting cooperation

SHARJAH, 10th August, 2021 (WAM) — The Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points in the Emirate of Sharjah, headed by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, Chairman of the Committee, recently held a coordination meeting with the leadership of the Border Guard Group, headed by Brigadier General Faraj Mubarak Al Shamsi, Commander of the Border Guard Group Command at the General Command of the Armed Forces.
The meeting explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, tackle challenges, and provide the best facilities for the entry and exit of goods and travellers through ports and border points in the emirate.
The meeting reviewed the latest updates and studies related to the development of this vital sector, especially in Dibba Al-Hisn and Al-Madam ports, and ways to overcome the challenges and shape a vision related to the development of ports across Sharjah.
While welcoming the attendees, Al Raisi said, “This meeting comes as part of the strategic partnership between the two sides to improve the performance of ports and border points in the Emirate of Sharjah, optimise operations, streamline procedures and develop services for customers and travellers.”
This comes in line with the strategy of the Government of Sharjah aimed at advancing the work system in all the ports of the emirate, in a way that contributes to developing and facilitating the movement of trade and ensuring its sustainability.
Al Raisi noted that further meetings will be held in the coming period with all the competent authorities operating at ports and border points, to strengthen the partnership and cooperation mechanisms and ensure the activation of security and customs controls and procedures, in addition to regulating the entry and exit of people and goods according to the highest international standards.
