According to the British Ministry of Defence, the senior politician is now being tossed aside by Vladimir Putin.

According to the British Ministry of Defence, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is being “sidelined” by Vladimir Putin and is routinely ridiculed by his own military.

The MoD stated in its daily briefing that the seasoned politician who has held the defense post for ten years is no longer the leader’s confidant and ally he once was.

He was removed from Putin’s inner circle as a result of Russia’s failings in Ukraine, where it suffered massive casualties in soldiers and equipment without making significant breakthroughs.

According to the report, the chief of the Russian military no longer briefs Putin directly; instead, operational commanders provide Putin with updates.

The Ministry of Defense issued the following statement today: ‘According to recent independent Russian media reports, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is being marginalized within the Russian leadership as a result of Russia’s difficulties in its war with Ukraine, with operational commanders briefing President Putin directly on the course of the conflict.

Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu is being “sidelined” by Vladimir Putin and is frequently ridiculed by his own troops, according to the British Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the seasoned politician who has held the defense post for ten years is no longer the leader’s confidant and ally.

As Russian development has halted, Russian officers and soldiers with direct combat experience likely often mock Shoigu for his ineffective and out-of-touch leadership.

Since he spent the majority of his career in the construction industry and Ministry of Emergency Situations, Shoigu has likely fought for a long time to overcome his reputation for lacking substantial military expertise.

Ukraine alleges that under Shoigu’s command, a whopping 47,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in battle.

In addition, over 2,000 tanks, 4,000 armored personnel carriers, 234 aircraft, and 1,000 artillery units have been destroyed.

Before becoming a minor functionary in his local Communist party, Shoigu, whose mother is of Ukrainian descent, worked in construction.

In 1991, he was appointed minister of emergency situations, gaining him the honorary rank of general. Prior to that, he was appointed vice chairman of the State Architecture and Construction Committee of the Russian Federation.

Putin has demoted Shoigu as a result of Russia’s catastrophic losses in manpower and equipment in Ukraine.

Along with Sergei Lavrov, he was appointed defense minister in 2012 and has long been considered a dependable Putin lapdog.

It comes as a team from the UN nuclear watchdog traveled to Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility on Monday, the agency’s head said, as Russia and Ukraine traded allegations of shelling in its area, stoking fears of a radiological catastrophe.

Zaporizhzhia, captured by Russian forces in March but administered by Ukrainian personnel, has been a flashpoint in a conflict that has settled into a battle of attrition fought primarily in the east and south of Ukraine six months after Russia’s invasion.

Rafael Grossi, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), wrote on Twitter, “We must defend the safety and security of Ukraine’s and Europe’s largest nuclear facility.”

Grossi stated that the IAEA team he was leading will visit the facility on the Dnipro River near the fighting lines in southern Ukraine later this week, without providing the exact date.

Along with Sergei Lavrov, Shoigu was appointed defense minister in 2012 and has long been regarded as a dependable Putin lapdog.

Separately, the IAEA stated that the mission would inspect physical damage, evaluate personnel working conditions, and “check the effectiveness of safety & security systems.” It would also “conduct urgent safeguarding activities,” a reference to radioactive material tracking.

The United Nations and Ukraine have demanded the withdrawal of military equipment and people from Europe’s largest nuclear facility to ensure that it is not a target.

The two sides have traded allegations of courting disaster with their attacks for several days.

Authorities in Zaporizhzhia are distributing iodine tablets and educating locals how to use them in the event of a radioactive leak, as worries of a nuclear mishap grow in a country still traumatized by the 1986 Chernobyl tragedy.

The city of Enerhodar, where the plant is located, was targeted by Russian forces, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated late Sunday on his Telegram channel with a video of firefighters extinguishing burning cars.

“They provoke and attempt to extort the world,” claimed Andriy Yermak.

The Ukrainian military had claimed shelling of nine further towns on the opposite side of the Dnieper.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed additional Ukrainian shelling of the plant over the weekend. Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, stated that nine shells launched by Ukrainian artillery struck the plant’s premises.

‘Currently, full-time technical personnel are checking the nuclear plant’s technical condition and ensuring its functioning. According to his remark, the radiation situation in the vicinity of the nuclear power station remains normal.

The Russian state news agency reported that authorities had shot down a Ukrainian drone that had intended to strike the plant’s nuclear waste storage facility.

Due to shelling, two of the plant’s reactors were disconnected from the electrical grid last week.

The Ukrainian national nuclear business Energoatom stated that it has no new information regarding the attacks, and Reuters was unable to confirm the accounts.

The U.S. State Department stated on Sunday that Russia had blocked a draft nuclear non-proliferation pact because it noted the grave radiation risk at the plant.

The Ukrainian military said early on Monday that Russian forces shelled military and civilian facilities near Bakhmut, Shumy, Yakovlivka, Zaytsevo, and Kodema in the Donetsk area of eastern Ukraine.

Sunday, eight civilians were murdered by Russian airstrikes in Donetsk province, according to the area’s governor Pavlo Kyrylenko.

Russia denies civilian targeting.

In a late-Sunday video speech, Zelensky warned that the occupants would suffer the consequences of their acts through the continued activities of our defenders.

No terrorist will remain unanswered for attacks on our cities. Zaporizhzhia, Orykhiv, Kharkiv, and Donbas will all receive a response,’ he continued.
