Senegal win first-ever Africa Cup of Nations

YAWUNDE, 6th February, 2022 – Senegal edged Egypt on penalties, capturing their first ever Africa Cup of Nations trophy tonight here.

From off, Senegal attacked impressively but found it difficult to penetrate the Pharaohs’ defence.

Egypt showed some resilience, notably when Mo Salah had the ball — but it looked like they were playing for penalties.

When it came to the penalty showdown, Senegal kept their nerve, Egypt lost theirs – and that was that.

Sadio Mane netted the winning spot-kick as Senegal won 4-2 to clinch their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations.
