The bustling town of Kuruman in the Northern Cape is gearing up for an exciting development.

The highly anticipated Segonyana Mall is on track to open its doors in November 2025.

Managed by the Moolman Group, this project promises to bring a fresh retail experience to the area.

After years of planning and a few delays, construction officially began on December 2, 2024.

Where is Kuruman?

Nestled at the edge of the Kalahari Desert and at the foot of picturesque low hills, Kuruman is a hidden gem in the Northern Cape.

Known for its unspoiled landscapes and as a stopover for travelers, the town sits on a major route connecting Gauteng, Namibia, and Cape Town via Upington.

While relatively small, Kuruman thrives with activity and charm.

It is most famous for the Eye of Kuruman, a remarkable natural spring that supplies fresh water from deep underground, drawing both locals and tourists alike.

What to Expect at Segonyana Mall

Segonyana Mall is set to offer a diverse mix of shops and services, catering to the growing needs of Kuruman’s residents and visitors.

Anchor tenants will include Shoprite and Boxer, alongside an array of popular brands like:

  • Sheet Street
  • Home Choice
  • Total Sports
  • Sportscene
  • Mr. Price
  • Pep
  • Markhams
  • Choice Clothing

In total, the mall will house 34 stores, ensuring a well-rounded shopping experience for everyone.

Prime Location and Facilities

Located at the corner of Tsening Road and Bree Street, directly across from the bustling taxi rank, Segonyana Mall is designed for convenience. Spanning 11,000 square meters of gross lettable space, the site includes a single-level parking facility, ensuring easy access for shoppers.

Economic Impact and Community Growth

The development of Segonyana Mall marks a significant investment in Kuruman’s future.

Beyond modern infrastructure, the project is set to drive local economic growth by creating job opportunities during construction and once the mall is operational.

Pieter Beyers of the Moolman Group emphasized the mall’s role in fostering community development, stating that it will enhance Kuruman’s position as a vibrant economic and social hub in the Northern Cape.
