It’s not every day that a store known for serving royalty finds itself at the centre of a shoplifting scandal — but that’s exactly what happened at a luxury baby boutique in London this week.
Blue Almonds, a favourite of the Princess of Wales, was the target of an audacious theft, and now the store is turning to the public for help.
Caught on Camera in South Kensington
The theft took place at Blue Almonds on Walton Street in South Kensington, one of the most exclusive — and priciest — baby stores in the capital.
The boutique, beloved by Catherine, Princess of Wales, shared clear CCTV footage online in hopes that someone might recognise the two individuals involved.
The video shows a man and a woman working together.
The man, dressed in black, is seen bending down as if to pick something off the floor.
But what he’s really doing is far more suspicious — he slyly stuffs three pieces of baby clothing down his shorts, including what appears to be a tiny outfit and a baby hat.
A Calm Exit After the Crime
Once he’s finished, the man casually walks toward the door, waves goodbye to the staff, and walks out like nothing ever happened.
A woman — dressed in a white summer dress and wearing sliders — soon follows, glancing back as she exits, making it clear the two were acting in sync.
The store says several garments were taken without payment, and judging by the calmness of their actions, it wasn’t their first time doing this sort of thing.
A Royal Connection to the Boutique
This isn’t just any baby shop — Blue Almonds has some seriously high-profile fans.
The Princess of Wales and her mother, Carole Middleton, were spotted shopping there back in 2013.
They spent nearly an hour browsing before picking out a £295 white wicker Moses basket for Prince George — just weeks before his birth.
The boutique’s clientele has also included pop star Lily Allen, among other well-known names.
It’s long been considered a go-to for luxury baby goods in London’s elite circles.
Store Pleads for Help from the Public
After the incident, Blue Almonds took to social media to raise awareness and seek help.
“Please share this footage,” they wrote. “It could help identify the individuals involved and increase the chances of them being caught.”
They also added that, while thefts at their store are rare, the incident was deeply upsetting for staff.
As part of their public service, they’re encouraging other businesses in the area to stay alert.
How You Can Help
The boutique is urging anyone who might recognise the suspects to come forward.
You can contact the police using the crime reference number 01/7719971/25, or reach out to Blue Almonds directly via Instagram, Facebook, or email.
Any leads will be passed on to the authorities.
