The Basics 

How long have you been at City Light? A little over three years

Division: Transmission and Distribution Field Operations

Tell us about your role. What does your job entail?  I am a sixth-step line apprentice. My role is to carry out the daily duties of maintaining equipment as well as supporting the lineworkers on my crew as they teach me the craft in preparation to eventually top out as a City Light lineworker myself.

Background 

Hometown: I was born here in Seattle, Wash., and spent a lot of my childhood growing up in Louisiana as well.

Alma Mater: I graduated from Grambling State University in Louisiana as well as Louisiana State University.

Area of study: I majored in fire science at Louisiana State and psychology at Grambling.

Tell us about your family: I have two daughters: Jaeda McFarland, 13, and Miracle McFarland, 6.

Just for Fun 

When you were younger, what was your dream job? My dream job as a kid was to be a firefighter, which I was for 10 years in the state of Louisiana.

What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?  On the weekends you will more than likely find me somewhere on the water or catching a flight.

If you could have any job for only one day, what would it be and why? I would probably be the pastor of a mega church. I would just want to see the difference in how pastors help people compared to how I help people on a smaller scale.

What is your favorite travel memory/experience? My trip to Puerto Rico.
