The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has released the payment schedule for June 2023, indicating the specific days on which beneficiaries of permanent grants can expect to receive their payments.

The schedule was published as part of the financial year 2023-24’s pay-out plan.

Sassa provides monthly subsidies to over 18 million recipients, covering various permanent grants such as the Older Person Grant, Disability Grant, War Veterans Grant, Care Dependency Grant, Foster Child Grant, Child Support Grant, Child Support Grant Top Up, and Grant-in-Aid.

Payments for older persons’ grants will commence on Friday, June 2, 2023, followed by grant payments for disabilities on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Children’s grants will be disbursed on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

It is important to note that these payment dates are subject to change.

According to Sassa’s schedule for the entire year, elderly, child, and disability grants are typically paid during the first week of each month.

Other grants and Social Relief of Distress (SRD) payments are then processed accordingly.

Except for SRD participants, beneficiaries can collect their grants from South African Post Office locations.

Sassa has also informed recipients that holders of expired gold cards will continue to receive their grants as usual until the end of the year.

The Payment Association of South Africa (PASA) has extended the validity of expired SASSA/Postbank Gold Cards until December 31, 2023.

This means beneficiaries do not need to obtain new cards or switch banks to continue using their expired cards for grant transactions.

Themba Matlou, the executive manager for Sassa in Gauteng and Mpumalanga, reassured grant recipients that their gold cards will remain valid until the end of the year.

Beneficiaries are advised to choose their preferred payment method and can reach out to Sassa’s Toll-Free Call Centre or local Sassa offices for inquiries.
