Sabina Trojanova Rates 10 Countries for Solo Female Travelers Based on Safety and Experiences Around the World

Solo travel can be incredibly empowering, but it’s understandable that many women wonder how safe it is in certain parts of the world.

Sabina Trojanova, a seasoned traveler and content creator, has shared her insights on countries that often get bad reputations when it comes to female solo travelers.

She recently posted a video where she rated these places based on her own experiences, offering a glimpse into what it’s really like to travel alone in some of the world’s most controversial destinations.

Rating Safety and Providing Honest Advice

Sabina, who has explored 66 countries, explained how she came up with her ratings.

“My ratings are a mix of personal experiences and broader safety trends in each country,” she says.

“I aim to show the good and the bad.

There’s no denying that some places are more challenging for women to travel in, but I also think the narrative of ‘solo female travel is dangerous’ needs to be questioned.

The reality is, being a woman anywhere can be dangerous.”

India – 7/10

India is a country where Sabina felt conflicted.

“India sadly struggles with high rates of violence towards women,” she shared.

Despite this, Sabina had a positive experience during her trip.

She recommends visiting Kerala as a more peaceful introduction to the country, pointing out its natural beauty and calmer atmosphere compared to other areas.

However, the alarming statistics on violence influenced her rating.

Guatemala – 8/10

In Guatemala, Sabina had an adventurous time hiking Volcan de Fuego, a challenging but rewarding experience.

She was impressed by the spectacular views, even though the hike was physically demanding.

She suggests this as a must-do for adventurous travelers looking for a real challenge.

Palestine – 8/10

Sabina’s experience in Palestine was also positive, but she lowered her score due to the general safety concerns related to the Israeli occupation.

She recommends visiting Nablus, a historic city famous for its knafeh, a delicious pastry dessert that she calls one of her favorite things to eat.

Despite the complexities in the region, Sabina’s time in Palestine was one of her most enriching experiences.

Kyrgyzstan – 7/10

For travelers seeking a true off-the-beaten-path adventure, Kyrgyzstan is a prime choice.

Sabina took a memorable three-day horse trip to Song-Kul, a remote freshwater lake nestled among mountains.

It was an unforgettable journey, though she points out that Kyrgyzstan’s limited tourist infrastructure might make it a bit challenging for some solo travelers.

Mexico – 8/10

Sabina notes that Mexico offers endless opportunities for exploration, from vibrant cities to quiet beach towns.

Her advice for women traveling solo is to skip the overly commercialized Yucatán Peninsula and seek out less touristy spots for a more authentic experience.

Albania – 9/10

Describing Albania as a European gem for adventure lovers, Sabina recommends visiting cities like Gjirokaster and Berat.

Both cities are UNESCO World Heritage sites with rich history and stunning architecture.

For history buffs or those seeking a unique European adventure, Albania is a highly safe and rewarding destination.

Kosovo – 7/10

Sabina found Kosovo to be a small but interesting country, perfect for a short trip.

Although still in the process of gaining full international recognition, she believes it’s an excellent choice for travelers seeking a quick break.

However, the country’s status and limited tourism infrastructure mean that some travelers might face challenges during their stay.

The Myth of Perfect Safety

When asked if any country could receive a perfect 10/10 rating for safety, Sabina’s answer was a firm no.

“In today’s world, that kind of score just isn’t possible,” she explained.

Despite safety concerns in certain places, Sabina emphasizes that solo travel doesn’t have to be feared.

“Bad things can happen anywhere,” she reminds us, “and while some countries are indeed more challenging, women should not stop themselves from exploring.”

Best Destinations for Solo Travel Beginners

For those new to solo travel, Sabina suggests starting with easier destinations.

“If you’re just starting out, I recommend places with less of a language barrier and a welcoming environment,” she advises.

Thailand, for instance, is popular among solo female travelers due to its well-established tourist infrastructure and friendly atmosphere.

Empowering Women to Travel Solo

Sabina believes in empowering women to travel solo, not to scare them.

“Do your research, listen to travel advisories, and stay informed,” she says.

“But don’t let fear hold you back from the adventure of a lifetime.”

Solo travel is not about avoiding danger but learning how to navigate it, with confidence and awareness.

Sabina’s message is clear: Women should embrace solo travel, challenge the norms, and explore the world.
