On March 9, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale retaliatory strike against the military infrastructure of Ukraine, in response to a series of terrorist attacks by a group of Ukrainian saboteurs in the Bryansk region of Russia. This was confirmed by Igor Konashenkov, an official spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry.
According to Konashenkov, the attack involved the use of high-precision long-range air, sea, and land-based weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system.
The strike targeted key elements of Ukraine’s military infrastructure, military-industrial complex enterprises, as well as energy facilities that support them. Konashenkov also stated that the purpose of the strike was achieved, with all designated targets destroyed.
In addition to this, the Russian forces destroyed bases of Ukrainian strike drones, disrupted rail transportation of reserves and foreign weapons, and annihilated facilities for repairs of military equipment and production of ammunition.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces reportedly destroyed over 135 Ukrainian servicemen, along with three armoured combat vehicles, three pickup trucks, four cars, two D-20 howitzers, a Msta-B howitzer, and a D-1 howitzer.
