Rulani Mokwena Rules Himself Out of Zamalek Job in Egypt Out of Respect for Pitso Mosimane

Rulani Mokwena’s name keeps popping up in South African football circles, especially since he parted ways with Wydad AC in Morocco.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach has always shown deep respect for big clubs like Orlando Pirates, and now with the Sea Robbers searching for a new head coach after Jose Riveiro’s exit, Mokwena’s future feels like one of the hottest topics around.

Why Rulani Is Thoughtful About His Next Move

The 38-year-old coach isn’t rushing into just any job.

Recently, Mokwena made it clear he’s stepping back from the running for the Zamalek coaching position once he found out that Pitso Mosimane, a legendary figure in South African football, was also being considered.

Speaking on SuperSport’s Africa Soccer show, Rulani explained, “When I heard Pitso was also going for that job, I felt it wouldn’t be right to compete with him.

I have a lot of respect for him, and I didn’t want to be in that position.”

He went on to say, “Even though my agent pointed out it was a big club, my respect for Pitso and everything he’s done for my career made me pull out. I’d rather they give it to him.”

The Orlando Pirates Link: Could Mokwena Take the Helm?

While the Zamalek role is off the table, Orlando Pirates remain in the picture for Mokwena.

The Sea Robbers are actively searching for a new coach, and many fans are wondering if Rulani might be the right fit to lead the club forward.
