In a stunning turn of events, Rory McIlroy solidified his legacy in the world of golf by securing his first Masters win in 2025, becoming the fifth player in history to complete a career Grand Slam.

This achievement came after an intense playoff against Justin Rose at Augusta, where McIlroy triumphed on his 16th attempt.

The Financial Windfall

Along with the prestigious Green Jacket, McIlroy took home a substantial £3.2 million (roughly $4.2 million) in prize money.

But McIlroy wasn’t the only one celebrating financially.

His caddie, Harry Diamond, who has been by his side since 2017, stood to benefit significantly from the victory.

Typically, caddies earn 10 percent of the winner’s prize money, which meant Diamond would pocket around £320,000 from the 2025 Masters.

Harry Diamond’s Role and Earnings

As McIlroy’s trusted childhood friend, Diamond’s support goes far beyond the typical professional relationship between a golfer and caddie.

Over the years, Diamond has been a constant presence, and McIlroy has often spoken about how much he values their bond.

Since 2021, Diamond’s earnings could have been closer to a seven-figure sum, considering McIlroy’s impressive earnings over recent seasons, totaling over $10 million in prize money alone.

Caddie compensation varies depending on the player’s success, but veteran caddie Brennan Little notes that the typical caddie earns about $2,000 per week, with an additional percentage (usually between 7-10 percent) of the player’s winnings.

With McIlroy’s continued success, Diamond likely earns far more than the standard rate.

A Lifelong Friendship

The bond between McIlroy and Diamond goes back decades.

McIlroy recently reflected on their long relationship, describing Harry as more than just a caddie.

“I’ve known Harry since I was seven years old. We met on the putting green at Holywood Golf Club,” McIlroy shared, visibly emotional.

“He’s been like a big brother to me throughout my life.”

For McIlroy, sharing such a monumental victory with Diamond made the win all the more special.

“This one is just as much his as it is mine,” McIlroy said.

“He’s a massive part of what I do, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to share it with than him.”

With both McIlroy and Diamond achieving new heights in their careers, this win represents not only a personal milestone for McIlroy but a testament to the enduring friendship and teamwork between the two.
