ROGEAP invites established non-solar businesses in West and Central Africa to explore opportunities in the growing off grid solar market

Running a successful business already but curious about how to tap into the fast-growing solar energy sector?

There’s now an exciting chance to expand.

The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP) is opening doors for non-solar businesses to step into the off-grid solar industry and make a real difference in communities without reliable electricity.

What ROGEAP Is Offering

ROGEAP, driven by ECOWAS and the West African Development Bank (BOAD), with backing from the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund (CTF), and the Government of the Netherlands (DGIS), is launching a large-scale regional campaign.

The goal is to help established companies—those already thriving outside the solar sector—make a smooth entry into the off-grid solar market.

Through training, technical support, and financial connections, the project will guide businesses in shifting into the solar value chain.

The focus is not only on opening opportunities but also on making solar energy accessible to underserved areas across West and Central Africa.

Why Non-Solar Businesses Are Needed

The solar industry has huge potential, but it needs strong partners with experience in distribution, customer service, and operations.

This is where businesses from other sectors come in.

Whether you’re in retail, FMCG, consumer electronics, or logistics, your existing infrastructure could be the key to reaching more households and communities with affordable solar solutions.

ROGEAP’s plan is simple: combine the reach and efficiency of established businesses with the innovation and sustainability of solar energy to create a win-win system that benefits both companies and communities.
