South Africa’s very own Survivor champion, Rob Bentele, is set to make waves on the international stage once again.
After winning Survivor South Africa: Island of Secrets, Rob is heading back to Samoa to compete in Survivor Australia: Australia vs The World.
The season premieres on M-Net on 31 August at 5:30 pm, giving fans a front-row seat to his next adventure.
A High-Stakes Global Competition
This season promises fierce battles as 14 top players from Australia and across the globe compete for the grand prize of AU$250,000, roughly R2.9 million.
Rob leads the ‘World’ tribe, making him the only South African to feature on an international Survivor edition, according to DSTV.
The ‘World’ tribe is stacked with Survivor legends, including Tony Vlachos, a two-time American winner, Cirie Fields, a four-time US player, and Parvati Shallow, another American winner.
Competitors from New Zealand, Quebec, and Norway also join the mix, creating a formidable lineup.
Rob Speaks Out
Rob shared his excitement about representing South Africa on such a massive stage: “It’s an honour to represent South Africa on this global stage.
The competition is tougher than ever, but I’m ready to show what we’re made of.”
Facing him is the ‘Australia’ tribe, featuring some of the nation’s best players.
David Genat, the 2020 Australian All-Stars winner, and three-time contestant Luke Toki are among the highlights.
Other notable participants include Janine Allis, founder of Boost Juice, and Shonee Bowtell, marking her record fourth appearance on the show.
Firsts and Milestones
This season sets several new records for the franchise.
It’s the first to feature multiple non-American international players, and it’s the first English-language Survivor season with more women than men.
A record five former Sole Survivors are competing, making it a highly anticipated season since Winners at War.
Jonathan LaPaglia returns as host, and he has hinted that this may be his final season, promising that contestants will be pushed to their limits in what could be the most challenging series yet.

Rob’s participation is a proud moment for South African fans, offering an exciting glimpse into the international Survivor community.
Survivor Australia: Australia vs The World is airing exclusively on M-Net, giving local viewers a chance to cheer for their champion as he battles alongside and against some of the world’s best players.
