Rico Lewis Confirms Commitment to Manchester City While Facing Transfer Interest From Nottingham Forest and Eyeing Greater Playing Role

Manchester City’s rising star Rico Lewis has put his future firmly in the hands of the Etihad, making it clear that playing for the club remains his top priority.

The 20-year-old’s comments come amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest, who have been eyeing a deal for the England international.

Dream Club Loyalty Shines Through

Lewis, an academy graduate, didn’t mince words about where his heart lies.

“I’ve never ever seen myself at a different club — I’ve always wanted to play for City,” he said.

“It’s my dream club, and like you see (at Wolves), when I’m playing with the kind of players that I’m playing with, it brings out the best in me, so I’m so happy.”

Star Performance Against Wolves Highlights Potential

On Saturday, Lewis showcased his versatility as City demolished Wolves 4-0.

Surprisingly named over Matheus Nunes at right back, he assisted Erling Haaland’s opening goal and provided added security in midfield.

His combination play with fellow academy graduate Oscar Bobb caused Wolves plenty of headaches, underlining the potential Guardiola sees in him.

Limited Appearances Have Not Dented Ambition

Despite his evident talent, Lewis’ game time has been inconsistent.

He only started four of City’s last 16 matches before the Wolves game and missed out entirely on the squad for May’s FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace.

Guardiola has been in discussions with him about his current role, leaving some uncertainty about how he might be used this season.

Taking Responsibility for Growth

Lewis is pragmatic about his situation, emphasizing personal accountability. “It’s difficult.

Everyone wants assurance and security, but at the end of the day, it’s on me. It’s on me to perform. It’s on me to take the chances when I do,” he explained.

He added that success or setbacks ultimately come down to his own efforts: “If I take my own chances, I do it.

If I don’t, then I have to work and get better.”

Eyes on Becoming an Established Starter

Looking ahead, Lewis is focused on increasing his role in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

“Last season I played more than the season before, this season I want to play more than last season, so it’s always the same goal — becoming an established player,” he said.

For a young talent like Lewis, the message is clear: Manchester City is where he wants to make his mark.
