Revenue Mobilization, Allocation And Fiscal Commission Reassures On Providing Acceptable New Revenue Sharing Formula

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission has reiterated its commitment towards providing a generally acceptable new revenue sharing formula that will meet the yearning and expectations of the three tiers of Government and the citizenry.
The Federal Commissioner of the Commission, Mr Chima Okafor, gave the assurance during the opening session of sensitization exercise of Revenue Allocation Formula in collaboration with Anambra State Government holding at Professor Akunyili Women Development Centre.

the event had in attendance the representative of various stakeholders in the state and is geared towards fashioning  a new Revenue Allocation Formula for the country.
Mr Okafor  a lawyer explained that revenue allocation from the Federal account is a specific constitutional mandate of the commission which it reviews  from time to time to ensure conformity with changing realities.
He  stated that over the years there has been  need and increasing agitation by many Nigerians for the review of the present Revenue Sharing Formula, to fulfill the collective aspirations of Nigerians for sustainable development.
Akso speaking,  the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Uchenna Okafor represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pascal Agbodike, and the State Head of Service, Barr. Harry Uduh, described the response of the Federal Government towards sensitization on the review of Revenue Sharing Formula as a welcome development and expressed optimism that the Commission will put into consideration  justice and equity and commended Governor Willie Obiano for his doggedness  in ensuring that Anambra attain  oil producing status in Nigeria and promoting democratic principles  in the state.
In his contribution, the Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, represented by  Justice Chukwudi Okaa, stated that unless an adequate provision is made to strengthen all the institutions with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the country, Nigeria would find it difficult to progress.
and proposed that more allocation should be given to the States and Local Government councils than the Federal Government.
The Deputy Chairman Anambra State traditional rulers council, Igwe Sunday Okafor also made positive contributions.
