Rasmus Højlund dismisses transfer rumours as Manchester United striker insists he plans to stay despite Inter Milan interest in Italy

While most footballers are winding down and eyeing a summer break, Rasmus Hojlund is juggling sunshine plans with swirling speculation about his Manchester United future.

Despite growing chatter about a potential move to Inter Milan, the 22-year-old striker seems calm and committed — at least for now.

Inter Milan Circles as United Reflect on Striker’s First Season

Inter Milan are reportedly stepping up their interest in Hojlund, even contacting Manchester United again to discuss a possible permanent transfer.

It’s no secret that the Italian side are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, and Hojlund — despite an underwhelming debut season at Old Trafford — is firmly on their radar.

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta last summer in a deal worth £64 million, with another £8 million in potential add-ons.

Big expectations came with that price tag, but he struggled to hit the ground running, managing only four goals in 32 Premier League appearances.

Contract Still Long, But United Might Be Willing to Listen

Technically, Hojlund is contracted to Manchester United until June 2028, with an option for an extra year.

But long contracts don’t always mean long stays — especially when performances are under scrutiny and the club is looking to rebuild.

Reports suggest United are in the market for a new striker this summer, and they’re open to hearing suitable offers for Hojlund if the right one comes along.

Hojlund Responds to Exit Rumors After Denmark Win

After helping Denmark to a 2-1 win over Northern Ireland in a friendly on Saturday night, Hojlund addressed the speculation in an interview with TV 2 Sport.

“I have a contract [until 2028], so I expect to play for Manchester United,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway.”

He added, “I know I can’t get much out of reading things.

I know what the facts are — I have a contract with Manchester United.

I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.”

Inter Planning Big Changes After Champions League Humbling

Inter Milan, meanwhile, are going through their own shake-up.

Following a bruising 5-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League final, the club is making major moves — including appointing Cristian Chivu as their new head coach after Simone Inzaghi left for Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Despite scoring the most goals in Serie A last season, Inter still lost the title to Napoli by just a point. Their desire to sharpen the attack is clear — and Hojlund could be a big part of that equation if United are willing to deal.

United Rebuilding Their Frontline with New Targets

At Old Trafford, Rúben Amorim has already started addressing United’s scoring woes by bringing in Brazil international Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million.

But they’re not stopping there.

The club is also deep in talks with Brentford, hoping to land Bryan Mbeumo in a deal expected to exceed £60 million.

With such major moves in motion, Hojlund’s place in the team — and the broader strategy — feels uncertain.

Whether he stays and fights for his spot or seeks a fresh start abroad could well be decided in the coming weeks.
