RAK Ruler attends reception to launch Ras Al Khaimah Championship golf tournament

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, attended a reception at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah for the launch of the DP World Tour Ras Al Khaimah Championship golf tournament, taking place at Al Hamra Golf Club this week with some of the best players in the world competing.

The ceremony was attended by some of the top golfers taking part in the tournament, as well as sponsors and organisers of the event, which the Emirate will host over four days from 3rd to 6th February, 2022.

Sheikh Saud highlighted the importance of sport and its pivotal role in building understanding and improving communication between people around the world, putting a particular emphasis on golf and its ability to be an engine for tourism and economic development globally.

He also underscored Ras Al Khaimah’s ongoing efforts to enhance its position as a destination for hosting international sporting events, which, in turn, promote the Emirate on the global sporting map, while spreading a culture of healthy competition and encouraging people to develop their athletic skills.

“Hosting the DP World Tour Ras Al Khaimah Championship is confirmation of the Emirate’s organisational capabilities and highlights its advanced infrastructure and golf courses designed to the highest international standards,” H.
