State visits are always a spectacle, blending diplomacy, tradition, and a touch of pageantry.
This week, all eyes will be on the Princess of Wales, who is set to take a central role during President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s two-day visit to the UK.
Greeting the Trumps at Windsor Castle
On Wednesday morning, Kate will welcome the Trumps alongside her husband, Prince William, in the picturesque grounds of Windsor Castle.
She will formally introduce them to King Charles and Queen Camilla, marking a high-profile start to the visit.
Following the formalities, the two couples will take part in a horse-drawn carriage procession through Windsor Great Park, accompanied by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, offering a classic display of royal pageantry.
Lunch, Art, and Remembrance
Kate will join the Trumps for a private lunch, followed by a tour of artwork in the Royal Collection, showcasing some of the UK’s most treasured pieces. Later, the presidential couple will visit the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II at St George’s Chapel, paying their respects in a private and solemn moment.
Presidential Engagements Beyond the Castle
President Trump will also make a visit to Sir Keir Starmer at Chequers, where bagpipers will provide a ceremonial welcome.
There, he will be shown historical items from the Sir Winston Churchill archives, curated by the National Trust at Chartwell House.
The Trumps are set to host a reception with leading British and US investors, including representatives from GSK, Microsoft, and Rolls-Royce, and witness the signing of a new tech partnership deal.
The event will conclude with a formal lunch featuring Dover sole with peas and potatoes.
Princess Kate’s Continued Involvement
Despite recently recovering from cancer, Princess Kate will appear at a State banquet on Wednesday evening and then meet Melania Trump in Frogmore Gardens the following morning.
There, the princess will be shown the Scouts’ Squirrels programme, highlighting her continued engagement with youth initiatives.
Trumps Express Excitement Over Princess’s Role
A source close to the Trumps shared: “The President and First Lady are thrilled that the Princess of Wales will play such a prominent role in their visit. The inclusion of Princess Kate in so many events is an honour.
We very much hoped she would be part of the visit, but nothing was confirmed until this week because of her health situation.”
With her busy schedule during the visit, the Princess of Wales is set to be at the heart of both ceremonial and diplomatic engagements, underscoring her importance in modern royal life.
