President Cyril Ramaphosa urges businesses to use young people’s enthusiasm, talent, skills, and experience to boost the economy

President Cyril Ramaphosa has urged businesses to assist in harnessing the energy, talent, skills, and experience of young people for economic growth.

In his Monday address to the nation, Ramaphosa praised the successes of the government’s school assistant programme, which has deployed about 600,000 young people to help teachers in classrooms throughout the country since 2020.

Additionally, the programme offers maintenance, security, food production, and many service operations.

The 10-month project, according to Ramaphosa, would give participants with a monthly stipend as well as approved training in a variety of fields, from digital literacy to basic accounting, from child and adolescent care to bricklaying, plastering, and plumbing.

President Ramaphosa has urged businesses to use the Employment Tax Credit to recruit and train more young people.

He explains that they may utilise the SAYouth.mobi platform to promote available positions within their organisations.

There are presently 2.9 million young people enrolled on the platform, which unites numerous government ministries and organisations like as the National Youth Development Agency, the Harambee Youth Employment and the Employment Fund.
