The only information provided by the White House was that the president was attending a private function.

The club, which features an outside gazebo, covered porches, numerous pools, and a café with views of the ocean, is where Biden spent a little more than an hour. A walkway descends to a 10-mile stretch of beach.

The president embraced an unnamed lady as he left the club as the sun was sinking. Hunter, his son, and Melissa Cohen, Hunter’s spouse, followed him. Jill Biden, the first lady, was nowhere to be seen.

On Tuesday, he departs from Kiawah Island and heads back to the White House to formally sign the Inflation Reduction Act into law.

On their week-long vacation to the exclusive island off the coast of South Carolina, the first couple was joined by many members of the Biden family.

Beau, the son of Hunter and Melissa who were travelling, as well as Finnegan, Hunter’s daughter from his previous marriage, were also seen.

The Biden family maintained a low profile on the island, seldom leaving their holiday home, which the Secret Service had cordoned off the perimeter to protect their privacy.

On Sunday afternoon, Jill Biden, Melissa Cohen, and Finnegan did go shopping.

And earlier that day, Finnegan rode a bike on the seashore with her grandparents.

The Bidens are vacationing for free in one of Kiawah Island’s private communities at a large beachfront mansion.

Maria Allwin, 66, a prominent supporter to the Democratic Party and the widow of hedge fund tycoon James Allwin of New York, is the owner of the nine-bed hideaway.

The 10,500 square foot beachfront property has a sizable saline pool and a separate guesthouse that is the size of a family home.

A mere 25 miles to the southwest of Charleston sits the island of Kiawah. It is mostly a golf and private beach resort.

Only 10 miles separate the narrow island from the mainland.

Numerous private properties can be found on the island, including those occupied by former Republican governor Nikki Haley, Olympic gold winner Tara Lipinski in figure skating, and NBA star Ray Allen.

The Bidens have visited Kiawah before.

When Biden was vice president, they had already visited the island in 2009, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

In 2015, soon after the president’s son Beau passed away from brain cancer, they made their most recent trip.
