Police Intervene to Calm Manchester United and Tottenham Supporters Who Engaged in Fighting in San Sebastian Before Big Match

With the Europa League final fast approaching, fans from two of England’s biggest clubs have made their way to Spain in huge numbers.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur supporters have traveled to the Basque region, eager to back their teams in what promises to be a season-defining clash.

Both clubs have struggled domestically, sitting 16th and 17th in the Premier League, so this final offers a chance for silverware and a ticket to next year’s Champions League.

The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher for Both Teams and Their Fans

For Tottenham, winning the trophy would end a 17-year wait to lift a major trophy, while Manchester United are aiming to claim their first piece of silverware under their new manager Ruben Amorim.

The significance of this match isn’t lost on fans, who have flown in by the tens of thousands, hoping to celebrate a memorable night.

Tensions Boil Over as Violence Breaks Out in San Sebastian

Unfortunately, the excitement was overshadowed by trouble the night before the match.

In the city of San Sebastian—just about an hour’s drive from Bilbao—groups of Spurs and United fans got into violent clashes.

Reports from local Spanish media El Diario Vasco say the chaos erupted around 9:20 pm, starting with shouting and insults that quickly escalated.

Witnesses say the situation turned physical after one fan threw a punch, knocking another to the ground.

This sparked a flare-up where objects were thrown and tables were overturned before the police arrived on the scene.

Police Intervene to Restore Calm Without Serious Injuries

Thankfully, once the police stepped in, the violence calmed down.

Authorities stayed in the area to prevent further incidents.

No arrests were made, and despite an ambulance being called to the scene, no one required hospital treatment after minor on-site care.

Ticket Demand Soars as Fans Prepare for the Big Game at San Mames Stadium

For the final itself, both clubs have been given an allocation of 15,000 tickets each for the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, which has a capacity of around 53,000.

However, thousands more fans were expected to purchase tickets in other sections of the stadium or travel without tickets at all, highlighting the immense passion surrounding this match.
