Authorities on Spain’s Costa del Sol have made a grim discovery after weeks of searching for a British man who vanished in mid-August. Andrew Wade, 65, was reported missing on August 15, sparking concern among friends and the local community.
Today, police believe they have located his body near Estepona.
Search Efforts Intensified in Paraiso
The National Police, together with Civil Protection teams and the Estepona Fire Brigade, had been carrying out a thorough search operation for Wade.
A spokesperson explained that from the moment of his disappearance, investigators meticulously retraced his steps and examined all possible movements leading up to August 15.
Officials noted that Wade had been preparing to return to the UK, information that helped narrow down the areas to search.
Despite previous efforts using drones to scan the wooded terrain, the dense undergrowth had hampered earlier results.
It was only during today’s renewed search in the Paraiso area that officers located a body believed to be Mr. Wade.
Identity and Cause of Death Pending Confirmation
Police sources cautioned that formal identification and the cause of death are still pending.
However, well-placed insiders are assuming the body is indeed that of Andrew Wade.
Community Mourns and Seeks Answers
Friends and acquaintances described Wade as a “lovely” man, and his disappearance had been particularly worrying because he left behind his two cats—a highly unusual move for him.
Spanish charity SOS Desaparecidos appealed to anyone with information about his disappearance to come forward.
At the time of his vanishing, Wade was believed to have been driving a black Volkswagen Golf.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.
