Planned Power Outages for March 3 and 5 2025 Will Impact Multiple Suburbs Across Johannesburg

Starting Monday, March 3, 2025, about 23 areas in Johannesburg will experience an 8-hour planned power outage.

City Power Johannesburg has announced that the outages will take place at different times and locations across the city.

Purpose of the Power Outage

The power outage is necessary for maintenance work on the electricity network.

This is being done to improve the quality of service provided to customers in the city.

City Power Johannesburg has urged residents to remain cautious and treat their electricity supply points as live.

They explained that power might be restored at any moment, so it’s important for customers to stay alert.

Areas Affected on March 3, 2025

On March 3, power will be cut in various areas from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Bryanston Substation:
    Affected Areas: Westhertford Road, Beauford Road, St Audley Road.

  • Edenvale Substation:
    Affected Areas: Edenvale Hospital, Sizwe Hospital, Rand Aid, Elphin Lodge, Sandringham Police Station, National Health Laboratory Services.

Power Outages Scheduled for March 5, 2025

On Wednesday, March 5, there will be additional power outages from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the following areas:

  • Allendale Substation:
    Affected Areas: Mayibuye, Rabie Ridge, Friendship Town, Kanana Extensions 4 and 5.

  • Cleveland Substation:
    Affected Areas: Marshall Street, Stone Street, Long Street, Park Street, Fawcus Street.

  • Roosevelt Park Substation:
    Affected Areas: Fairland, Northcliff, Berario.

  • Eikenhof Substation:
    Affected Areas: Southfork, AfriSam.

Ongoing Power Disruption and Repairs in Joburg

In addition to the scheduled outages, City Power Johannesburg is addressing a power disruption affecting multiple areas.

The disruption has impacted Bez Valley, Kensington, Cyrildene, Observatory, and nearby areas.

The cause of the disruption has been identified, and repairs are underway.

City Power Johannesburg has asked residents to unplug electrical appliances during the repair process to avoid further complications.

The estimated time for power restoration will be shared once the repair work begins.

Cable Fault Repairs Near Completion

Repairs at Reefhaven Switching Station (Aloe House) are almost finished following a cable fault that affected Lindhaven, Grobler Park, and surrounding areas. This fault had caused an interruption in the power supply, and residents can expect to see power restored soon.
