Pitso defends Percy Tau’s selection in Al Ahly loss to Mamelodi Sundowns

Tau had been out injured for weeks but he returned to face his former employers in the CAF Champions League in Alexandria on the night.

This despite Mosimane having Luis Miquissone who scored a brace against Misr Lel Mekassa in Al Ahly’s 4-0 win in midweek.

Mosimane said had Al Ahly lost with Tau on the bench, he was still going to be asked why he didn’t play him.

Then again, Mosimane said if Tau had scored and Al Ahly had won, no questions would have been asked about him playing against Sundowns.

MOSIMANE RESPONDS TO QUESTION ABOUT TAU’S SELECTION

“It’s easy to say that, if Percy Tau had scored the goal that I think is not offside, you would not ask me why I put Percy Tau in,” Mosimane told the Egyptian media.

“If I didn’t put him in, you would ask me why you don’t play Percy Tau when you need a goal and you have a good player like Percy Tau on the bench.

“Hussein also scored and he was on the bench, but you’re right, it’s a fair question but it’s the life of a football coach.

“If you keep Tau on the bench and lose, you get asked why. If you play Percy and he scores… whichever situation I’ll get asked why you don’t have Miquissone – he’s coming up slowly, and in a game like this, you need experienced players,” added Mosimane.
