Man Arrested After Car He Allegedly Stole Crashed on Isle of Wight Cliff Edge
A man was arrested on the Isle of Wight after crashing a car he had allegedly stolen.
Police were called on Sunday following reports of a road traffic collision in the Compton area of the Isle of Wight.
Witnesses helped the man out of the white Ford Mondeo, which had come to a halt on the edge of a cliff, balancing precariously above the sea.

Arrest on Suspicion of Theft
The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of stealing the car, driving without a valid license and insurance.
Hampshire Constabulary has released a statement, saying, “We were called to a concern for the welfare of a man near Military Road at about 3.45pm on 2 April.
“This involved a white Ford Mondeo near a cliff edge.
“The occupant of the vehicle was assisted by members of the public.
“Following enquiries, officers arrested a 26-year-old man from Newport on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
“He has been released on police bail.”

No One Injured
The man was fortunate that the car stopped before the edge of the cliff, which could have led to a fatal accident.
He was arrested and released on bail, and the police investigation continues.
No one was injured in the incident.
